68 - Into The Ocean

I’d started Illuminations with a favourite track, and one that’s hard to get hold of – Airbase’s “Maya Bay”. So I got into mixing, and it sounded great, but at about half way through I had to leave it for a time. I came back to it recently and completed it and took it to work to listen to it.

And the second half almost didn’t match the first half at all. Worse, the choice of tunes was kludgy, and moved from style to style with little real continuity. It actually made me ashamed of having completed it and not really listened to it through when I’d been working on it.

So finally I pulled the last half of the tracks out, and found other tracks – and this time it flowed better. It starts out hot and electric, like splashing into the ocean on a hot day, and then searches for the awe of the deeps.
